Our Story

Marianne Brown is the entrepreneur and creative spirit behind The Butler Did It. What began in 1998 as a collaboration between two dear friends, Marianne Brown and Debra Kirkwood, with a shared passion for entertaining and creating, has evolved into a Catering and Concierge company that sets the industry standard in Edmonton for quality and attention to detail.

In the late '90s, Edmonton's catering scene was rather drab - lots of black plastic disposable trays and chafing dishes filled with spanakopita and egg rolls! Something had to change. My clients deserved better. We began to experiment with prettier, fresher presentation. It was very well received. Initially, we just helped with parties - our motto was "We will shop, chop and mop," which is exactly what we did.

We greeted guests, poured cocktails, scaped the table, plated and served dinner, and the very best part, left our hosts with a sparkling kitchen and a delicious plate to enjoy the next day. To this day, I think it's the part our clients love the most.

The true catering division of my company was created because I loved my clients and wanted their parties to be fabulous. I am not a chef but a passionate entertainer and this passion has served me very well in developing The Butler Did It.

Things have changed - no more cafeteria-type food! There are lots of creative, talented chefs and caterers out there, not to mention event planners. I have some fabulous competition - great news for you, the client.

The Butler has arrived and anything is possible!
